Road Risk Assessment

Manage Road Risk  – why bother?

Employers now have to consider the safety of their employees whilst driving in connection with their business and the phrase 'duty of care' is becoming synonymous with road safety.

Organisations need to…

  • Undertake a comprehensive health & safety assessment to minimise occupational road risk
  • Add occupational road risk issues to the board agenda
  • Implement a road risk reduction programme

Every time your staff drive on your behalf they run the risk of getting caught up in an on-road incident. Increasing the risk that Directors could be in breach of regulations such as the Corporate Manslaughter Act.

A recent survey of 120 HR Directors found that less than 1% knew the details about the whole issue of people driving on company business, in both company-owned and privately owned vehicles.

Companies must now comply with the new regulations that are required for compliance to both the Health & Safety at Work Act and the Corporate Manslaughter Act.

Drivers’ licences checked in the past 12 months revealed the following statistics

·          1 in 200 is driving unlicensed, many more have current convictions missing

·          1 in 6 has a driving licence not registered to their current address– leaving them exposed to having their licence revoked by DVLA and driving illegally
